VALONI.io – A Platform for Making Lighting Quality Visible

In the European lighting market, true product quality is hard to see.

Every product carry the CE mark. Some may have certificates or similar quality signals but these rarely tell the whole story. For specifiers, it’s hard to distinguish what’s truly reliable. For manufacturers who build better products, it’s just as hard to stand out.

That’s why we created VALONI.io. Not just a platform, but a structured system for making quality visible, comparable, and trusted across the industry.

More than a listing

VALONI.io is not an open directory or a marketing portal. Every product listed on the platform has passed an independent verification based on the VALONI criteria.

Before a product is listed:

  • It must meet mandatory baseline requirements (our threshold criteria)

  • It is then scored across four core categories from 1 to 5

This approach makes both compliance and comparative quality visible. It creates a shared foundation for communication, not just between manufacturers and specifiers, but across the entire value chain: from compliance experts to designers, from procurement to project delivery.

The four categories of VALONI evaluation

Each product is reviewed by Complite across the following categories:

  • Safety: Every product must meet fundamental safety requirements . Higher scores reflect deeper validation, such as third-party certification.

  • Performance: Does the product perform as promised? We assess this based on verified technical data, test reports and declared values.

  • Sustainability: Can the product be repaired? Are the light source and controlgear replaceable? Are disassembly instructions available? Higher ratings reflect stronger long-term responsibility.

  • Data: How complete and usable is the product’s data for specifiers? Scored from basic availability to full interoperability.

Product are evaluated with measurable, transparent and auditable criteria. This VALONI criteria is based on EU directives, regulations, standards and industry best practises.

One structure. Many benefits.

VALONI.io doesn’t just verify products. It also structures product data with product profiles which are created for each listed product.

  • All product profiles follow the same layout and logic.

  • All documentation is named and organized consistently.

  • All data is displayed in ways that are intuitive and useful for specifiers.

This helps specifiers find and compare products faster and manufacturers highlight their strengths more clearly.

In upcoming articles, we’ll dive deeper into VALONI.
